This photo below shows Mt. Moran in Grand Teton National Park in early October when the cottonwoods
are at their peak. The photo was taken in the late 1980s when I was working as a photographer for

I am told that the cabin in foreground was destroyed by a fire. This photo was taken in the late 1980s.
It shows an old homesteader's cabin in an area called Mormon Row because it was settled by
who lived a very hard life and are part of Jackson Hole History. In the late 1980s there was only
one surviving Mormon Row settler. He was over 100 years old and lived in town.

Oh, the trouble to get this shot! First, to find the Santa suit, then to convince the model/skier to get up early
and go to the resort, take a lift in freezing temperatures, find a good slope, pile snow for him to bust through,
and then shoot it about four times, each time removing skis and trekking up the hill. The sad part of the
whole story was that when this photo appeared in the Jackson Hole News as its Christmas edition photo,
the reproduction was awful! This was in the early days of using color in newspapers and sometimes
the results were good, and sometimes they weren't. Feel free to right click on this photo and save it
it as a Christmas card photo. After all the trouble to get the shot, I want it to get good use!
